About This Project

What this is

This is an independent project. We are not connected to any political party, campaign, PAC, or advocacy group. We do not endorse candidates. We do not tell anyone how to vote.

Why it exists

Most political information comes packaged with an agenda. Both sides do it. The result is that a lot of people either tune out entirely or form opinions based on incomplete, sometimes misleading framing.

We think people can handle the full picture if someone takes the time to lay it out clearly. That is what we are trying to do here. Read the actual bills, pull out what matters, present the real tradeoffs, and link to every source so anyone can verify what we wrote.

How we work

We start with the bill text. Not a news article about the bill, not a press release from the sponsor. The actual legislation from Congress.gov or the relevant state legislature site.

We use official data. Voting records come from Congressional records. Campaign finance numbers come from FEC filings. If we cite a statistic, we link to where we got it.

We show pros and cons for every bill. If we genuinely cannot find a legitimate argument on one side, we say that explicitly rather than making something up for the sake of balance.

Every claim has a source. If we cannot tie a statement to official records or credible nonpartisan research, we leave it out.

We fix mistakes. If we get something wrong, we correct it and note what changed. Getting it right matters more than looking like we got it right the first time.

Where our data comes from

  • Congress.gov for bill text, status, and voting records
  • Federal Election Commission for campaign finance data
  • Congressional Budget Office for cost estimates
  • Government Accountability Office for audit reports
  • State legislature websites for state level bills and votes
  • Nonpartisan research organizations for policy analysis, always named and linked

Found something wrong?

If you spot an error, we want to hear about it. Include the specific claim and your counter-source so we can review it properly.
